August 12, 2025: What to Know Before the First Day of School – August 13

Dear Rocklin Unified Families,

We are excited to welcome both new and returning students to the 2025–26 school year beginning Wednesday, August 13! While summer offered a well-deserved break for students and teachers, our incredible teams in Maintenance, Grounds, Custodial, Technology Services, and the District Office were hard at work preparing our campuses for a smooth and successful start.

In May, the Rocklin Unified Board of Trustees approved $7.1 million in one-time funding for school safety and campus facility improvements from the district’s budget reserves. Each school has been allocated funds for one-time projects, and this year we’ll be working closely with school communities to determine the best ways to put these resources to work for students. I also want to stress the importance of student safety when using a motorized vehicle. This also includes e-bikes. Please watch this five-minute video from the Rocklin Police Department about e-bike safety.

This year, we’re thrilled to launch the full implementation of Antelope Creek Elementary’s “Spark the Art” program, where the arts are integrated into every classroom. Across the district, our commitment to the arts continues, with every school offering rich opportunities in music and visual arts—one of the many ways RUSD’s Board of Trustees supports a well-rounded education and options for families.

We’ve also launched brand-new district and school websites to help you stay connected with the latest news and resources. These redesigned sites provide easier access to information and help keep families engaged in what’s happening at school and across the district.

As part of Rocklin Unified School District’s (RUSD) commitment to innovation and instructional excellence, we will be introducing AI-powered tools to support teaching and learning across our schools. These tools are being carefully implemented to enhance classroom instruction, support teacher effectiveness, and better meet the diverse needs of our students. Click here to learn more. We continue to work closely with our families and have updated our instructional content opt-out process in response to a recent Supreme Court decision. Families may learn more about that option by clicking here.

We’re looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and new possibilities for every student. Thank you for being a valued partner in your child’s education. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or your school’s front office.

Don’t forget:
  • Every Day Counts: Attendance matters. When students are in class every day, they’re more likely to succeed. Let’s work together to help every student strive for excellent attendance this year.
  • ParentSquare is Your Communication Hub: Rocklin Unified uses ParentSquare to keep families informed and connected. New this year: Field trip permission slips will be sent digitally through the app. If you haven’t already, please download ParentSquare from Apple’s App Store or Google Play Store and activate your account for a more intuitive and up-to-date way to engage with your child’s school and teacher(s).
Lastly, please allow extra time for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up during the first few days of school, as traffic tends to be heavier while routines are reestablished.

Sincerely,

Roger Stock
Superintendent

June 5, 2025: Proud of all Students' 2024-25 Accomplishments!

Dear Rocklin Unified Students, Families, and Staff,

We proudly celebrate each and every one of our students. The work I’ve seen first-hand during classroom and school visits is inspiring. Students displayed resilience, determination, and a dedication to learning throughout the year, including the graduating Class of 2025. Congratulations! We can’t wait to see the incredible things you’ll accomplish in the years ahead.

As we wrap up the 2024-25 school year, reflecting on all we’ve achieved together is inspiring. Over the past 186 days, our students and families have prioritized daily attendance, achieving an impressive preliminary attendance rate of 95.62% while significantly reducing chronic absenteeism to a preliminary rate of 8.1%. Every day on campus allowed students to learn, grow, and shine through academic excellence or participation in athletics, arts, and other extracurricular activities. Some students are finishing their first year of kindergarten, the future graduating class of 2037; it seems so far away, yet time passes within the blink of an eye.

This year, students showcased their talents in various ways: through awe-inspiring music mega-concerts, stunning art showcase events, and unforgettable performances in school plays and musicals. At Antelope Creek Elementary, students are concluding an exciting pilot year of the “Spark the Arts” program of choice, bringing creativity and innovation to their learning experience.

Our dedicated staff has also worked hard, participating in professional development, maintaining our facilities, and strengthening our technological infrastructure to support student success. The Rocklin Unified Board of Trustees remains committed to ensuring our schools are safe and welcoming learning environments where students can thrive. This includes recently approving the use of $7.1 million in one-time funding for school safety and allocating funding for each school to use on one-time facility projects.

While students and teachers enjoy a well-deserved summer break, many district staff members will be busy preparing for the 2025-26 school year. From preparing classrooms to improving campus facilities, their behind-the-scenes efforts ensure a smooth start when we welcome students back on August 13.

Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and dedication to our students’ success. I wish you all a relaxing and joyful summer filled with laughter, new adventures, and cherished memories. Here’s to a wonderful break — and an exciting year ahead!

Sincerely,

Roger Stock

August 13, 2024: Welcome Back to School: Exciting Start to the 2024-25 Year at Rocklin Unified!

Dear Rocklin Unified Families,

With the first day of the 2024-25 school year starting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 14, we are thrilled to welcome our students back to campus and extend a warm welcome to the new members of the Rocklin Unified family. Our schools are fully prepared and committed to ensuring a smooth transition. We are ready to embark on a year of continued learning and growth, and we look forward to your continued support.

In recent days, our campuses have been abuzz with activity as principals, teachers, and staff worked tirelessly to prepare for our students' return. While many enjoyed a restful summer break, our dedicated staff in Maintenance, Grounds, Custodial, Technology Services, and the District Office worked hard to ensure that each school was ready for the new academic year.

At Rocklin Unified, we are dedicated to nurturing the whole child. This means providing all students with the tools they need to achieve educational excellence and any additional support they may require.

We are proud to continue expanding musical opportunities for students in grades 4, 5, and 6 under the leadership of the RUSD Board of Trustees. These opportunities include learning band, string instrument, and choral singing, enabling students who pursue a music focus to transition seamlessly into secondary school programs. Additionally, we have many other visual and performing arts programs for students within Rocklin Unified.

Don’t forget:
  • Research shows that students miss even two days of school each month, which negatively affects a student’s academic performance. So, let’s work together to get students to school on time. Every Day Counts!
  • Rocklin Unified uses the ParentSquare to better communicate with families. Please download the app (Apple’s App Store or Google Play Store) for a more intuitive and up-to-date way to engage with your child’s school and teacher(s).

We look forward to a year full of possibilities for our children and value your partnership in helping each student reach their full potential. Please get in touch with your child’s teacher(s) or the school’s front office if you have any questions.

Please allow extra time for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up during the first few days of the school year, as traffic patterns will adjust with the start of classes.

Sincerely,

Roger Stock
