Common Core State Standards (CCSS)

The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy.

RUSD is committed to a robust implementation of the Common Core State Standards, including the California Mathematics Framework, California’s English Language Arts/English Language Development Framework, and the State’s Next Generation Science Standards and History Social Studies Frameworks.
Our mission is to assist educators throughout our district to provide the highest quality teaching and learning with a focus on student growth and achievement. Our teachers are continuing to grow in their role as skilled facilitators who can provide experiences that enable students to take ownership of their own learning, by equipping them with tools to use technology to expand their learning, to work collaboratively in groups, and to individually apply and solve complex real-world problems. Additionally, teachers in RUSD will continue to be supported in their use of instructional technology to enhances and transforms teaching and learning and in their uses of formative and summative assessments to inform their instructional decisions.
