ROCKLIN, Calif. – April 28, 2021 – The Rocklin Unified School District (RUSD) is proud to announce that Whitney High School is a 2021 California Distinguished School. The top honor is awarded to schools for their excellent work in closing the achievement gap and attaining exceptional student performance.

 

“Students, families and teachers are committed to achieve academic success everyday at Whitney High School,” said Whitney High School Principal, Justin Cutts. “We are honored to receive this coveted recognition as a 2021 California Distinguished School and are dedicated to continue to enable students to reach their full potential.”

 

The California Department of Education recognizes eligible schools based on performance and progress on state indicators highlighted on the California School Dashboard, the state’s accountability and continuous improvement system. Indicators include test scores, suspension rates, and conditions and climates. Schools hold the title for two years.

 

Whitney High School joins 221 other high schools and middle schools that are part of the 2021 California Distinguished Schools. The title highlights each school’s commitment to excellent teaching, learning, collaboration, professional development opportunities, and positive student behavior intervention.
