Process to Request Student Opt-Out
In light of recent legal developments, including the June 2025 U.S. Supreme Court opinion in Mahmoud v. Taylor, which affirmed expanded parental notice and opt-out rights concerning certain instructional content, the Rocklin Unified School District (RUSD) will offer the following expanded opportunities to further expand parent involvement and choice at all school sites:
- Annual notification of parents' educational rights regarding curriculum/content review and opt-outs.
- Online access to lists of adopted RUSD curriculum/syllabi in grades TK-12.
- In-person access to review all TK-12 district adopted curricula by appointment.
- An opt-out form that will allow parents to request a specific curricular opt-out for their child based on their sincerely held religious beliefs.
